Kosher Italian-American eatery, sushi bar Café Coeur will open this fall

A new kosher Italian-American restaurant and sushi bar will open doors in Creve Coeur this fall. Co-owners Moshe Plotnik and Yaniv Sides plan on opening Café Coeur at 10477 Old Olive Street Road in October.

Plotnik said Café Coeur will offer kosher versions of gourmet pizza, pastas, salads and fish, along with a sushi bar. Plotnik said he plans to offer alcoholic beverages, but Café Coeur won’t have a full-service bar.

Plotnik said he contemplated ideas for a business venture for a few years when it struck him that there weren’t many exclusively kosher restaurant options in Creve Coeur or the St. Louis area. After years of experience managing commercial properties, Plotnik decided to utilize his connections with food distributors and other vendors around the area and Side’s experience in owning restaurants on the East Coast. Side is also in the process of opening Konata Sushi Bar and West Side Wok in Manhattan.

“We felt this location was centrally located and able to service the majority of kosher-keeping consumers,” Plotnik said, adding that another big selling point was its proximity to several highways.

Plotnik said the 2,300-square-foot space will have approximately 70 seats and a “clean, modern, yet family-friendly feel.” The restaurant will serve lunch and dinner Sunday through Friday and will offer delivery options, as well as catering.
