First Look: Strange Donuts in Creve Coeur

Things in Creve Coeur are about to get strange at the newest location of Strange Donuts, slated to open at 11477 Olive Blvd., on Wednesday, Sept. 5.

I’m so proud of this space,” said owner Jason Bockman. “Our other stores look like we built them because we did. We have the means now to match our space with our branding and experience. This is beautiful – really first class.”

The new storefront will offer the same doughnuts as the other area locations in Maplewood and Kirkwood, but Bockman said it will include an expanded beverage selection, including a “stranger take on coffee” like cereal milk lattes. Unlike the other St. Louis locations (there’s also a franchise in Mexico City), the new spot has seating for about 16 in the 1,000-square-foot space.

Classics like glazed and jelly-filled doughnuts are on offer daily, while “Creations” change monthly. September’s creations include blueberry cheesecake, fat Elvis (banana custard filling and peanut butter icing half-dipped in chocolate icing and sprinkles), General Custard (custard filling and chocolate icing), Bart’s Revenge (chocolate icing and a Butterfinger dip) and more.

Rotating weekly are “Strangers” – the craziest combos – and are only available Thursday, Friday and Saturday until sold out. You’ll have to call or visit the store to find out what’s cooking each weekend, but previous strangers include a Mudslide with brownie batter and salted caramel, as well as the Majestic Unicorn Fat Baby topped with Fruity Pebbles, among other ingredients.

“We’ve won a bunch of awards for our doughnuts, but what makes us popular is our customer experience,” Bockman said. “I feel proud of the way we interact with our audience and our customers. People walk away feeling like they’re family.”
