The Scoop: Zoe Robinson to open a petite bar-cafe in Clayton

March 7th 11:03am, 2012

Zoe Robinson, owner of Bobo Noodle House in the Skinker-DeBaliviere neighborhood and I Fratellini in Clayton, has another project in the works. As reported by George Mahe of St. Louis Magazine, Robinson plans to open a small bar-cafe across the street from I Fratellini, in the space at 7637 Wydown Blvd.

“It’s really, really little,” said Robinson of the space formerly occupied by a shoe repair store. “That is why I am using the word ‘petite.’ It’s just 24 seats. We’ll have a cute little patio too.” The restaurant has yet to be named and many other details are still in the planning stages, noted Robinson, who is working with Space Architects on the design of the bar-cafe. “There is a ton of work to do. The space is very antique and nothing has been done in there in 84 years. There is barely electricity. We have to redo everything, but I don’t want to lose the antiquity of it. It is going to be just a darling little place. I think those little intimate spaces are the best,” she added.

Despite the diminutive size of the space, a kitchen will be built so that patrons can also enjoy dinner rather than just come in for a drink. Robinson also hopes that the new space helps with the spillover crowd at I Fratellini. “We are always at capacity here,” she said of that restaurant. Robinson expects to open her new restaurant in early to mid-summer.

I cannot wait for this! I live literally 2 seconds from here and love I Fratellini! I can’t wait to hear more about the project as it progresses!
