The Scoop: Tsevis’ Pub & Grille returns

March 8th 02:03pm, 2012

The Scoop reported in January that the lights went out at Martello’s Italian Restaurant, located in Affton at 8025 Mackenzie Road. But by month’s end, they will be turned back on when Tsevis’ Pub & Grille opens in the space.

Owner Mario Mehmeti is bringing back the family-run restaurant that his grandfather first opened under the same name at 189 Concord Plaza in South County. The restaurant closed three years ago after a 10-year run.

Mehmeti told The Scoop that the menu at Tsevis’ Pub & Grille will feature many family recipes from its previous stint, plus other Greek dishes. What must we try? According to Mehmeti, the gyros will be “awesome” and the moussaka will also be a great bet. Those looking to taste a variety of Greek dishes can go for the Mediterranean sampler platter.

Doors are expected to open on March 28. Watch for news on the soon-to-come Tsevis’ Pub & Grille Facebook page.

Confused about this article, my dad Pete Tsevis is not related to Mehmeti,. Although the food is great and my dad Pete is there opening and running it. Everyone knows my dad knows his food and his customers are like his family. Just wanted to clear that up. I hope all of St.Louis gets a chance to experience the good food and hospitality.

to be part of a family doesnt always require blood relation. the Tsevis’ family as well as the Mehmetti family have welcomed me as a longtime employee into their families as one of their own. They are family to me and familly to everyone they have touched over the years. I am truly blessed to be a part of such a wonderful group of people….family through and through. The food and atmosphere at Tsevis sell themselves…the pure love and generousity of these families as one is simply PRICELESS. As an employee of this establishment, i am truly blessed.
