The Scoop: Frida’s Deli to expand
March 12th 11:03am, 2013Less than one year after opening its doors, Frida’s Deli is already expanding. The vegetarian deli, located in U. City at 622 North and South Road, made the announcement today on its Facebook page, noting “We are super excited to announce that we have acquired the space next door. Look for expanded seating and Frida’s Farm in the future!”
Owner Natasha Kwan explained that Frida’s is taking over the space at 618 North and South Road, formerly home to Diamant Kosher Meat Market. Kwan plans to use part of the space for additional seating (The deli currently only seats 16.), while she’d like to make the other section into a hydroponic garden for growing lettuces, kale and herbs. “We’re hoping in four months that everything is said and done,” said Kwan, who clarified that Frida’s will not close during the expansion.
