The Scoop reported in June that Colleen’s Cookies was joining the cafe world, and the big day has arrived. Caife Caife is now open at the shop, located at 7337 Forsyth Blvd., in University City.

Caife Caife has a full-service coffee bar, and its staff was trained by Jesse Raub, a wholesale educator for Intelligentsia Coffee, the exclusive coffee brewed at the cafe. Today, The Scoop sampled a citrusy Yirgacheffe pour over with a nice, bright finish.

Savory fare also is new to Colleen’s. Although the menu is still being finalized, the cafe will offer a selection of flatbreads, sandwiches, salads and soups, according to owner Colleen Thompson. Flatbreads offered today included tomato, caramelized onion and goat cheese; feta and artichoke; and pepperoni salami.

Longtime Colleen’s patrons won’t be disappointed in the cookie selection. That is only getting sweeter. While the sugary treats aren’t changing (Have you tried the chocolate-Nutella cupcake with peanut butter frosting?), Thompson plans to offer cookie flights featuring three mini cookies paired with distinct teas or pour-over coffees.

The expanded space, with a mix of chandeliers and vintage light fixtures, offers a bright, airy feel, whether sitting on one of the stools at the tiny coffee bar or at one of the handful of low-top tables.
