The Scoop: Bandana’s founder to smell that smoke again

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

100311_BBQJonathan Seitz, co-founder of Bandana’s BAR-B-Q, no longer owns the chain of Southern-style barbecue eateries. But now that his non-compete agreement with Bandana’s has expired, Seitz is ‘cueing up the smoker once again. As early as this Thursday, Seitz will open the doors to Boodles BBQ at 10024 Gravois Road in Affton.

A “boodle,” explained Seitz, is country slang for “a gathering.” Diners at the restaurant will be able to nibble on brisket, baby-back ribs and fried biscuits as well as sides like Greek-style green beans and picnic potatoes: diced potatoes with a sour cream and butter blend that Seitz called “delicious little devils.”

Boodles will be open seven days a week, serving lunch and dinner. And don’t expect the smell to rise from just one smoker. Seitz confirmed long-term plans to open a handful of Boodles eateries in the St. Louis area.
