The Scoop: Zino Platinum Lounge to open at Brennan’s

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

11311_cigarbrandyWhere’s a cigar smoker to enjoy a fine stogie and sip on scotch these days? Once at Brennan’s, always at Brennan’s. But now it’s even better since owner Kevin Brennan has transformed the eastern half of the second floor, commonly referred to as Maryland House at the cigar and spirits shop, into a Zino Platinum Lounge, to cater to the cigar-and-whiskey crowd.

According to Brennan, there are two Zino Platinum Lounges in Florida and a handful more of these clubs/lounges/bars, sponsored by swanky cigar-maker Davidoff of Geneva, are scattered across Europe. Brennan has been given the OK to give his venue some unique red carpet touches such as: an optic drink system that hangs on a wood-paneled wall and dispenses 50 different single malts and whiskeys; a music system behind the bar playing tunes from what Brennan has deemed the 50 best albums for cigar connoisseurs; hip furniture like royal blue banquettes paired with red tabletops on rod iron bases; and Brennan’s personal humidor collection on display.

Entering into this cigar-lovers four-room Havana will cost you a monthly membership. The $35-level membership comes with a $35 credit for tobacco, while the $100-level membership gives you the $35 tobacco credit plus invitations for you and a guest to monthly tastings and a cigar locker box on the premises. Until the cigar locker box arrives, however, folks can get a free sneak peek of the lounge and see what it’s all about when it opens, which Brennan said could happen as early as Saturday but certainly by next weekend.
