Stories of Independence

Join Washington University Libraries as we celebrate "Stories of Independence"
The celebration will begin at 2:00 p.m. with an informal talk by Curator of Rare Books, Cassie Brand, about the original copy of the Declaration of Independence on display in Olin Library.


Beginning at 2:30 p.m. there will be activities for children and adults, including:


Reading of Frederick Douglass’s speech “What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July?” (note: abridged)
Storytime for younger children, with resources from We Stories
Make Your Own Declaration
Lemonade and cookies will be served. Free and open to all.
