6:30pm Reception
7:00pm Lecture
Journalist Benjamin Hochman has lived all over the country – and he explains how baseball in St. Louis is just different than any sport in any other city. With stories from his own childhood, tales from interviews with Cardinals players and interactions with famous St. Louis natives, Benjamin weaves a tale of family, fatherhood and fastballs.

Benjamin Hochman, a St. Louis native, is a sports columnist for The St. Louis Post-Dispatch and author of the new book, “Big 50 – Cardinals. The Men and Moments.” Hochman studied journalism at Mizzou, graduating in 2002. From there, he became a sports reporter at The New Orleans Times-Picayune and The Denver Post, becoming a columnist for The Denver Post in 2013. In 2015, he was offered his dream job – sports columnist at his hometown paper. Over the years, he has won numerous writing awards, notably the Associated Press Sports Editors’ annual honors as both a beat writer and a columnist. Hochman previously wrote the book “Fourth And New Orleans,” about Hurricane Katrina and football, published in 2007.
