Saint Louis Ballet presents Shakespeare’s most enduring story as a full-length ballet, with original choreography by Artistic Director Gen Horiuchi. Set to a stunning score by Sergei Prokofiev, who composed it in 1935-36 for the Kirov Ballet. The production is known for its vivid characterizations, dramatic swordfights and a romantic pas de deux best known as the “Balcony Scene”. The ballet of Romeo & Juliet captures the intensity of the bitter rivalry between the Montagues and the Capulets remarkably well, in addition to the power and passion of the young lovers.
