Limeade

INGREDIENTS

1½ cups granulated sugar
5 cups water, divided
Zest of 4 to 5 limes, peeled into strips
1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
Large handful fresh tulsi, washed and chopped

PREPARATION

• Combine the sugar and 1 cup water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
• Add the lime zest, reduce the heat to medium and let the mixture simmer for 30 minutes. Allow to cool.
• Once the syrup is cool, combine the remaining 4 cups water, the lime juice, tulsi and syrup in a pitcher and let steep in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
• Strain before serving.
