Rose Pastry Cream


Use this pastry cream in these Rose-Lychee Macarons.


Ingredients

1 vanilla bean (or 2 tsp. vanilla extract)
1 2/3 cup whole milk
4 egg yolks
½ cup plus
1 Tbsp. granulated sugar
¼ cup cornstarch
2 Tbsp. butter
1 Tbsp. rose water*
2 Tbsp. rose syrup*
3 drops natural rose essential oil or rose extract**
