Clark W. Gin Fizz, aka Sparky

Clark W. Gin Fizz, aka Sparky
A shot of Jameson. A rum and Coke. A Negroni: Gin, Campari and sweet vermouth. Simple sippers can be great, but so can a fizz recipe that calls for nine elements – 10 if you count the ice. Don't let the long ingredients list scare you; this frothy drink is easy to make.

Ingredients

1 egg white
2 oz. gin
3/4 oz. lemon
1/2 oz. grapefruit juice
1/2 oz. honey syrup
1/2 oz. strawberry-lavender-rose syrup*
1 oz. heavy whipping cream
1 dash crme de cassis
Club soda

Preparation

• Place all of the ingredients except the club soda into a cocktail shaker. Do not add ice. Shake vigorously for 20 to 30 seconds.

• Add ice and shake another 45 to 60 seconds until the contents become cold and frothy. Strain into a Collins glass and top with a splash of club soda.

*To make this syrup, mash ½ pound hulled strawberries, 2½ teaspoons dried lavender flowers (or 4 to 5 fresh flowers), and 5 or 6 dashes store-bought rose water with 4 cups of sugar in a large pot; let sit for 15 minutes. Add 5 cups of water and bring to a boil. Turn down the heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Strain the syrup through a chinois and again through cheesecloth.
