First Look: HopCat in the Delmar Loop

The St. Louis location of HopCat, the Michigan-based brewpub chain, is set to open on Saturday, July 28, at 6315 Delmar Blvd. in University City.

HopCat locations are all about showcasing local beers, and the St. Louis version features 80 taps of Missouri beers and ciders, 30 of which are available year-round and another 50 that rotate through seasonals, one-offs and special releases. There will also be other national brews represented in the near future. The bar also offers a full selection of cocktails and spirits.

The extensive HopCat food menu has plenty of pub-friendly signature items like cheese-stuffed burgers, Detroit-style pizzas and beer-battered Crack Fries. Saturday and Sunday brunch service is set to begin later this summer.

The building HopCat calls home, most recently the location of clothing retailer Sole & Blues, has undergone an extensive remodel, including a second floor that houses a semi-private seating area, gaming options like a foosball table and shuffleboard, and the restaurant’s kitchen.

Many of the building’s original features remain like the exposed brick walls augmented with eclectic details like the mismatched light fixtures over the bar and custom music- and movie-inspired artwork on the walls. The interior seats 145 with approximately 70 additional seats in the outdoor beer garden.

HopCat’s hours are Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to midnight, Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to midnight.
