Cha Cha Chow will close brick-and-mortar to focus on food truck, catering

Cha Cha Chow will close doors at its nearly 3-year-old storefront after service Feb. 16. Owner Sam Burke announced the news yesterday, Feb. 6, in a Facebook post. Food truck service and catering will begin March 1.

Although Burke said Cha Cha Chow has maintained a strong catering presence and interest in the food truck, sales dwindled at the brick-and-mortar location at 4916 Shaw Ave., on The Hill. He decided it was time to move forward and refocus the business.

“We’re adding a bunch of new items to the food truck this coming year,” Burke said. “We’re trying to hit catering harder, as well. So that’s the plan. And in a year or two, we’ll either get a second truck or open up a brick-and-mortar in a different location.”

Cha Cha Chow’s new menu will include a Cuban croqueta-inspired dish and bowls.

“We have four or five bowls that have gone over really well,” Burke said. “We have a chorizo bowl, shrimp burrito bowl, jerk chicken bowl [and] smoked beef bowl. We’re going to transfer that concept onto the truck.”

Burke said in addition to following the truck on social media, he’s also working on a more comprehensive online calendar with the truck’s schedule that should roll out soon.
