St. Louis Black Restaurant Week starts this Saturday
St. Louis Black Restaurant Week kicks off Saturday, Oct. 31, and will run through Saturday, Nov. 7. This event, organized by Black Restaurants LLC, highlights Black-owned restaurants, many of which will offer various dining deals. There are 16 participating restaurants that will offer an array of fare, including American food, seafood, soul food and West African cuisine.
After having a successful first round in St. Louis during July, Black Restaurants LLC and various restaurant owners came together to create another great experience for patrons to participate in. CEO Frank Williamson is motivated to hold these events to generate awareness for the Black community.
“I want [consumers] to get in the habit of patronizing Black businesses,” Williamson said. “I know we get in the habit sometimes of going to chain restaurants. We’re trying to gain more love and more support for our community.”
During the week, the participating restaurants will be offering various dining deals. Just a couple of the deals offered include Doggie Mac's offering any hotdog and drink for $10 and Prime 55 offering veggie burgers with fries and drink or salmon sliders with fries and a drink for $10.
Knowing what to expect from the first St. Louis Black Restaurant Week, patrons are eager to participate for a second time around.
“The response has been great,” Williamson said. “People are excited about it. The response has been greatly appreciated.”
Black Restaurants LLC plans to hold many other events to spotlight African-American restaurants, including Black Friday events, Black history events and a restaurant of the week highlight.
