About the St. Louis Mullen Foundation • A proclamation by St. Louis Mayor Clarence Harmon in 1999 declared May 2 as Mike Mullen Day. Years later, a group of Mullen’s friends honored the day with a surprise party for Mullen, an activist well known in the Central West End neighborhood. The celebration morphed into an annual fundraising event for four charities selected by Mullen and the foundation’s board of directors. In 2017, Mike Mullen Day organizers broadened their efforts and established the St. Louis Mullen Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit run by volunteers. The foundation works to bring attention and financial support to St. Louis-based charities that serve animals, families and veterans in need. Mike Mullen Day remains our annual keystone event.
