Tango Argentina Food now has a dine-in location in St. Charles
Tango Argentina Food recently expanded, as reported by Feast Magazine. Their first dine-in location opened earlier this fall at 2418B W. Clay St. in St. Charles. Owners Stella and Hector Aberastury started selling their empanadas at different events and festivals back in 2000. Their popularity grew and, in 2016, they opened their first brick-and-mortar shop (a little over a mile from the new spot) in St. Charles, where they operated a takeout-only business. After many requests for a larger sit-down location, the Aberasturys found a bigger space.
The menu offers 14 fried-to-order empanadas. Combinations include classics such as empanadas de carne with ground beef, green and red peppers, onion, olives and Argentinian spices, and international variations like the empanada caprese with tomato, mozzarella, Parmesan and basil. “One of the new ones we added when we opened is the bacon and cheese, and customers really like that,” said Stella Aberastury. A variety of Argentinian sweets and chimichurri are also for sale.
The restaurant has a bar as well and is in the process of receiving a liquor license. “We are going to sell beer and Argentinian wine,” said Aberastury.
In terms of the vibe inside, “We want customers to feel like they are in Argentina,” said Aberastury. “We have pictures from Argentina, Argentinian sports and news on TV, flags and Argentinian music.” The space is 1,500 square feet and has 10 tables that can seat 50 to 60 people.
You can visit Tango from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Delivery is available on their website and third-party apps.
