{I love Gourmet Magazine. It’s beautiful and painterly, and I miss seeing a new issue come in the mail every month. I hoard a stack of them by my desk at work and guard them jealously.}

{I found this recipe for homemade ricotta cheese on Goop and use it in pancakes, lasagnas or smear it on crusty bread. Combine 4 cups of whole milk, 2 cups of heavy cream and a teaspoon of salt in a cast-iron pot and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, I turn off the heat, stir in 3 tablespoons of white wine vinegar and let it stand for a minute. Strain through a cheesecloth and enjoy.
