The Scoop: Welcome back!
Listen up, Chuy Arzola’s fans, cuz the news is good: Your favorite Tex-Mex eatery will soon be back, fajitas and all. Coby Arzola confirmed today that he and his dad, Eddie Arzola, plan to reopen their beloved eatery, this time in Midtown, at 3701 Lindell Blvd. The space currently houses Joe Boccardi’s Ristorante, which will vacate the spot at the end of the month. Arzola said that fans can expect the menu to feature plenty of old favorites (including the Margaritas) and a few new specials. Another bright spot, particularly given the end-of-days financial news of late: The Arzolas plan to rehire much of the staff from Chuy’s original Dogtown location. Look for the new Chuy’s to debut by June 1.
In other Arzola family news and just in time for spring temps, watch for Agave’s seating to expand by some 40 outdoor seats in the coming month.

Glad to hear that they will be back, although bummed that they will not be reopening in Dogtown (my nabe). I miss being walk down there from home. Besides, that corner of Clayton & Tamm is so sad-looking now.

Yippee! We have tried every mex / tex-mex place in town and NOTHING compares to Chuy’s! Although it is unfortunate that they aren’t still in Dogtown, we are excited that they are locating to our ‘hood and that we can walk to and fro (especially after knocking back a few ritas). Please continue to post details on opening day.

Sorry but Chuy’s food was mediocre at best – you might as well stay home & whip up some Old El Paso. Drinks were pretty good I guess. Coby rose above that to some extent at Agave, but even there there were some hints of the past – like wilted shredded lettuce under a $20 entree.

@mt – I totally agree. Chuy’s food was overpriced and exceptionally bland. Agave is a good improvement, but I’ve only been once, maybe a few weeks after they opened.
