CHARIS Concert - Cruisin' the Mighty Mississippi

CHARIS– The St. Louis Women’s Chorus presents the final concert of our 26th season, “Cruisin’ the
Mighty Mississippi.” This concert takes listeners on a journey along the waters of America’s iconic river,
with songs that celebrate the thrill of travel, the renewal of being on the water, and the landmark
musical cities on the river’s winding path. The Mississippi flows through some of our richest musical
geographies—from New Orleans jazz, to Memphis and St. Louis blues, to Prince’s hometown of
Minneapolis. Song selections include “Louisiana 1927,” “Walkin’ in Memphis,” “Purple Rain,” and
“Rescue Me,” by St. Louis R&B and soul singer/songwriter Fontella Bass.
