Jerk Unlimited is taking its Caribbean soul food across the Mississippi River to Illinois, with a second location set to open Sept. 18 at 5 N. Delmar Ave. in Hartford. The new restaurant adds to Jerk Unlimited’s existing location at 3108 Cherokee St.

The new restaurant will be open for carryout-only lunch and dinner service, with a menu featuring popular Caribbean dishes like jerk chicken, spicy oxtails and more. A statement from Jerk Unlimited said the second location will make the restaurant’s Caribbean flavors more accessible to North County and Metro East residents.

“We’re thrilled to bring our Caribbean soul food to Hartford,” said Jerk Unlimited chef Trevoy Woods in a statement. “Our goal has always been to create a space where people can savor the warmth and hospitality of the Caribbean, and we’re excited to continue this tradition in a new community.”

The Hartford location will host a grand opening on Sept. 18 with events throughout the day including a ribbon-cutting ceremony, live music and special promotions.
