St. Louis knows how to do barbecue well, which is why it headlines our June issue. We say on the cover that barbecue is the most American of cuisines, and this month, I think our cover speaks to that beautifully. The ribs drenched in red barbecue sauce, the white of the rustic-looking plate and the blue from the Sauce logo not only make this cover feel appropriately American but it’s also bright enough to welcome the summer we’ve all been waiting for.
Not to mention, what says barbecue better than ribs? Photographer Greg Rannells picked a rack up from Bogart’s Smokehouse and shot them so they look perfectly messy. It’s not fancy and it’s not supposed to be – but what it is, is simply delicious.
