“We are in dire need of beer,” Six Row Brewing Co., brewmaster Evan Hiatt said as he gave The Scoop a tour of the microbrewery’s recent expansion into a building behind the main brewhouse at 3690 Forest Park Ave. The space, once a cold storage area for Falstaff Brewing Corp., now houses a handful of fermentation tanks scheduled to be online this week. (Read more about the thinking behind the expansion here.)
The upgrade will enable Six Row to quadruple production and reach nearly 4,000 barrels annually. “All of our distributors are telling us, ‘We need more beer,'” said Hiatt, adding that, with 4,000 square feet of additional space and only a fraction of it taken up by the tanks, there is enough room to install a bottling line in the future. Here’s to more beer.
