mexcla to open on cherokee street Credit: mexcla

Mexican fare and more is coming to Cherokee Street when Mèxcla opens at 2818 Cherokee later this month. Owner Pablo Quezada has worked in the restaurant industry for years and is hoping to bring diversity to the neighborhood with the opening of his first place.

“A lot of people think Cherokee Street is only Mexican food,” said Quezada. “But there’s also delis and pizza places. I want to add to that mixture and add something different.”

Mezcla means mixture in Spanish and Quezada’s menu will offer a mix of Mexican food like chicken tinga, barbacoa and al pastor with international offerings like doner kebabs, gyros and fried rice.

Mèxcla will be open for lunch and dinner and likely have brunch hours. The restaurant will seat around 35 diners and will also offer carry out service.
