Madrina, an Italian-American restaurant at 101 W. Lockwood Ave. in Webster Groves, has been honored with the coveted Jury Prize from the World of Fine Wine Awards, making it the only Missouri restaurant recognized with the global distinction in 2025.

The award is presented to wine programs that demonstrate distinctive character, flair and overall excellence. For Madrina, it affirms a vision rooted in more than food and drink: one focused on connection, hospitality and lasting experiences.

“I’m both humbled and incredibly proud of what our wine team and service staff have created here at Madrina,” said Alisha Blackwell-Calvert, Advanced Sommelier and Beverage Director. “Being the only restaurant in Missouri recognized alongside acclaimed establishments from around the world makes this honor especially meaningful. The Jury Prize is about more than a list; it reflects the care, hospitality and human connection we strive to pour into every glass.”

Co-owner and certified sommelier Stanley Browne echoed the sentiment, noting the award validates the restaurant’s mission since opening. “From day one, our vision for Madrina was more than food – it was about crafting moments that resonate. This mention on a world stage validates the dedication of our team, our commitment to hospitality, and the joy of sharing truly exceptional wines with our guests.”

Madrina’s wine program is shaped by Browne’s dedication to building a world-class dining experience and curated by Blackwell-Calvert’s expertise and thoughtful selections. Together, they have built a program now recognized on the international stage.

Opened by Stanley and Arlene Maminta Browne of Robust Bistro & Wine Bar and Frank Romano and Laura Burns of The Parkmoor Drive-In, Madrina offers a modern take on the classic mid-century Italian-American dining experience. Executive chef Tim Adams leads the kitchen with a menu of elevated, handcrafted dishes inspired by traditional Italian-American recipes.
