From the moment you enter Stone x Steel Restaurant, located at 11750 Missouri Bottom Road in Hazelwood, the atmosphere feels elevated and intimate, setting the tone for a refined yet welcoming dining experience. Situated within the aerospace industrial corridor near Boeing and just minutes from St. Louis Lambert International Airport, the space is intentionally designed to serve as a true destination spot in North County.
The 3,800-square-foot restaurant and bar is the vision of Dr. LaShonda Session, a Flint, Michigan, native with Jamaican roots. The name Stone x Steel honors both place and personal history. “Stone” represents Michigan’s Great Lakes shorelines and natural strength, while “Steel” nods to Detroit’s industrial legacy and the aerospace landscape surrounding the restaurant. Together, stone and steel symbolize durability, resilience and timelessness, qualities Session hopes Stone x Steel will embody for the St. Louis region.

“I wanted to fill a void,” said Session. “I spent years searching for the right space, with a focus on the North County market. I wanted to bring an elevated dining experience to the community I call home.”
Sleek and softly lit, the space seats approximately 100 guests blending black, white and grey tones with bar, table, booth and outdoor seating options. TVs alternate between Sunday sports games and scenic digital visuals, paired with a soundtrack that flows from smooth jazz and Top 40 to Afrobeats, dancehall and reggaeton, depending on the time of day.
As the first U.S.-born member of her family, the menu reflects Session’s heritage with a modern West Indian influence, delivering bold Jamaican flavors like molasses, jerk seasoning and smoked elements that add just the right amount of heat. Food at Stone x Steel is treated as art, offering shareable plates, entrées and vegetarian options. Brunch highlights include the Island Catfish Plate with perfectly seasoned catfish, Caribbean slaw and sweet plantains (with a blackened version in the works); Biscuits x Gravy made with Italian sausage and chorizo in a smoky blonde-roux gravy over buttermilk biscuits; and the Bayou Prawns & Polenta, served with large Cajun prawns over a creamy three-cheese polenta.

Dinner favorites range from the 48-hour slow-braised short rib (available for both brunch and dinner) served over garlic mashed potatoes with a house reduction to the light and airy fig and prosciutto flatbread with goat cheese, caramelized onions, mixed greens and balsamic reduction. The charred corn and poblano chowder is topped with shredded Jack cheese, tortilla strips and chile-lime oil and Session’s personal favorite, the panko-crusted ahi tuna, is a smoked 4-ounce tuna fillet served with coconut rice, flash-fried asparagus and chile-lime butter. Vegetarian guests can enjoy options such as the mushroom risotto, with three additional vegetarian dishes currently in taste testing and expected to debut in January. Each dish arrives simply plated on black plates, allowing the food to speak for itself. Stone x Steel also features a kids’ menu, ensuring a family-friendly outing for guests of all ages.

The robust beverage program offers signature (classic) and premium cocktails, wine and mocktails. Several of the dishes feature a recommended drink pairing, all crafted with premium, top-shelf spirits. Standouts include the Fire Ore Margarita made with LeBron James’ smoky Lobos mezcal with a Tajín rim, the Smoked Old-Fashioned with Woodford Reserve, and the Hibiscus Rum Punch with fresh hibiscus flowers flown in from Atlanta. House-made ingredients include hibiscus-ginger syrup, freshly brewed espresso with imported beans for the Espresso Martini, and fresh-squeezed citrus juices for mimosas.
Session’s favorite offering is the French Connection, a spirit-forward collection inspired by the French 75. Made with St. Germain elderflower liqueur and Chandon Champagne, each variation caters to different spirit preferences: the Classic 75 with Nolet gin, Golden 75 with Don Julio tequila, Gilded 75 with Ketel One vodka and Velvet 75 with Rémy Martin 1738 or Hennessy.
