Set to open this spring, The Noble Crown, will bring a refined take on American cuisine to 300 N. Euclid Ave. in the Central West End. The Noble Crown is a collaboration between the Saint Louis Chess Club and Noble Concessions LLC, operated by Kevin Brennan. The partnership supports the Chess Club’s largest campus expansion to date, promoting St. Louis’ reputation as America’s Chess Capital. The Noble Crown takes its name from the King’s crown and the noble spirit that defines the game of chess. The space is designed with the game in mind, with purpose, clarity and precision, tributes to the beauty of the game.
The two-level, 5,000-square-foot space is designed to offer distinct but complementary experiences. The 3,000-square-foot, ground-floor restaurant will seat 55 guests, plus 10 at the bar. Downstairs, a 2,000-square-foot wine cellar and lounge will be open Wednesday through Saturday at 5 p.m., featuring seating for 50, a six-seat chef counter and a private dining space for 20 or more guests. An additional 30 seats are available for patio seating.
The Noble Crown is a modern American bistro offering a menu of appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, entrées and desserts. Its culinary influences span the globe, thoughtfully shaped by the team’s experiences, stories and creativity. The menu strikes a balance between comfort and surprise, pairing familiar favorites with unexpected layers of flavor. Above all, The Noble Crown is committed to creating food that is both delicious and approachable, and looks forward to sharing it with the community.
“At The Noble Crown, our focus is on food people actually want to eat,” said John Perkins, Director of Culture & Food Experiences. “We’re taking familiar American classics, treating them with respect, and keeping them simple, comforting and delicious.”
Beyond its core menu, The Noble Crown will introduce a chef-driven residency program at the lower level, welcoming a rotating lineup of local, national and international chefs for curated tastings, wine pairings and special dinner events. The beverage program will be wine-forward, anchored by the cellar and lounge, with additional cocktail, beer and non-alcoholic offerings announced closer to opening.
While event details have yet to be announced, the restaurant is expected to complement global chess competitions and community initiatives tied to the campus. Independent from Brennan’s other concepts, The Noble Crown will stand on its own.
“I am excited about the project as a whole, reinvigorating this historic corner in the West End, and giving folks a reason to come back out to restaurants again,” said Perkins.
The Noble Crown will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, with hours planned for 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
