HyRule Cannabis has just announced another local music collaboration, this time teaming up with St. Louis rock icons The Urge. The partnership marks the 30th anniversary of the band’s breakthrough album Receiving the Gift of Flavor and introduces a limited-edition product with a collectible twist.
To honor the milestone, HyRule is releasing The Urge Pre-Roll Tin on Dec. 1. Each tin includes five pre-rolls and features a built-in audio element that plays tracks from the album when opened.
“It’s wild to think it’s been 30 years since Receiving the Gift of Flavor came out,” said Steve Ewing, lead singer of The Urge, and co-owner of Steve’s Hot Dogs. “To see the music still connecting with people and now being part of something so creative and homegrown like this HyRule collab it feels like a full-circle moment for us and for St. Louis.”
The launch follows HyRule’s successful collaboration earlier this year with El Monstero, whose own collectible pre-roll tin became a hit among local fans. (The bands share a few members.)
“When HyRule approached us, we loved the idea of tying the vibe of a live show to something tangible,” said Mark Quinn of El Monstero. “Music and cannabis have always gone hand in hand – it’s part of the experience.”
Jimmy Griffin of El Monstero added, “We’re all about that St. Louis spirit, creativity, and doing things with a little flair. This partnership captures that perfectly.”
HyRule views these collaborations as a way to celebrate Missouri’s creative culture, not just a marketing play. “One of our goals has always been to build authentic connections between Missouri’s music culture and cannabis community,” said Scott Gertken, director of sales and marketing at HyRule Cannabis.
Both The Urge and El Monstero pre-rolls come in multiple strains with an infused option. El Monstero products are already available, and The Urge tins will hit dispensary shelves statewide – including at Swade, North, Missouri Wild Alchemy, The Heights, Verts and Green Releaf – beginning Dec. 1.
Fans can catch both bands live this holiday season at The Pageant: The Urge performs Nov. 28, while El Monstero returns Dec. 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 26 and 27.
