Just in time for National Coffee Day on Monday, Sept. 29, there’s a new spot to grab a cup of joe or bag of beans across the river. Fuddle Duddle Coffee Co. has officially opened its roastery inside Old Bakery Beer Co. in Alton. The coffee brand, launched in late 2024 by Old Bakery co-owners and employees Lauren Rogalsky and C Fleck, is the latest addition to the brewery’s growing offerings.

Fuddle Duddle originally roasted at First Crack co-roasting facility in St. Louis before moving operations under the same roof where both founders work. Fleck, who has spent five years in the coffee industry, also assists with front-of-house and canning operations at Old Bakery. Rogalsky, the brewery’s front-of-house manager and creative lead, is responsible for OBB’s murals, cans, and merchandise and has extended her design work to Fuddle Duddle’s packaging, website, and even a mural dedicated to the new brand.

The roastery focuses on organically grown coffees, with an emphasis on highlighting the unique flavors of single-origin beans while also offering blends. One of its signature creations is the Old Bakery Beer Breakfast Blend (OBBBB), a smooth, approachable roast. Guests at Old Bakery can now order Fuddle Duddle drinks, including iced lattes with seasonal flavors and drip coffee, while retail bags of whole beans and merchandise such as mugs and shirts are available onsite and online.

“The brewery has always been a gathering place,” Rogalsky said. “Now with the roastery under the same roof, we can offer people a full experience: great beer, great food, and now, truly great coffee.”

Fleck said the move is just the beginning. “Now that Fuddle Duddle is brewing in OBB, we see the potential for growth. This is phase one, and we are looking into eventually opening a coffee shop within OBB. We would love community input about the idea and look forward to hearing what our followers have to say.”

The name “Fuddle Duddle” comes from a family saying Rogalsky’s father used when she was young, and the brand’s retro 1970s-inspired look reflects the couple’s love of vintage design and estate-sale finds. The launch of Fuddle Duddle comes during a milestone year for Old Bakery Beer Co., which is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2025.
