The ready-to-drink cocktail sector just got a little leaner. St. Louis-based Vodkade, a brand that carved out its own niche by mimicking the nostalgic taste of sports drinks with a vodka kick, has introduced a new sugar-free line aimed at drinkers who want the flavor without the extras. The rollout lands at a moment when calorie counts and ingredient lists are getting nearly as much attention as what’s actually in the glass.

The new line trims things down to 90 calories per can, with zero sugar and zero carbs, while maintaining the brand’s core identity: non-carbonated vodka cocktails made with natural fruit flavors. Each can clocks in at 4.5% ABV and comes in four familiar, almost locker-room-adjacent flavors: fruit punch, orange, berry-cherry and lemon-lime.

That positioning is intentional. While much of the RTD market continues to orbit around fizzy seltzers and malt-based drinks, Vodkade has stayed in its own lane, offering a still (read: non-bubbly) alternative designed to echo the sports drinks many consumers grew up with. The sugar-free extension builds on that concept, targeting a growing segment of drinkers who are balancing social habits with wellness-minded decisions.

That shift is especially pronounced among Millennial and Gen Z consumers, who are increasingly reading nutrition labels, tracking macros and seeking gluten-free options. The better-for-you RTD category has expanded quickly in response, though many brands have leaned heavily on health claims. Vodkade’s approach, by contrast, centers on delivering a flavor-forward experience first, with the nutrition profile following close behind.

The company’s origins trace back to a Florida pharmacist who began mixing vodka with sports drinks for friends, eventually developing a formula that would become the foundation of the brand. What started as a small, homegrown idea has since evolved into a St. Louis-headquartered operation with national distribution and an early foothold in what is now an increasingly crowded category.

The sugar-free variety is sold in 8-packs of 12-ounce cans and is now available nationwide, joining the original lineup, which comes in at 5% ABV. You’ll also be able to get it at Sauce Food Truck Fridays all season long, so make sure you join us at Tower Grove Park for the first event this year on May 1. See the full schedule here.
