St. Louis has lost another cornerstone of its media community. Feast Magazine, one of two food-focused magazines based in St. Louis, has ceased operations effective immediately.
Feast’s managing editor Shannon Weber posted the news to her Instagram story on the morning of Friday, Sept. 26.
“At 11 a.m. yesterday, Lee Enterprises – the corporation that owns Feast and the STL Post Dispatch – killed Feast. Effective immediately. … I urged them to announce this, but there was no plan in place to do so, and I can’t let this hang because it deserves more than that,” the post stated. You can read the full statement on Weber’s Instagram @aperiodictable.
Feast stopped printing issues in late 2024, moving to a digital issue format. The magazine was founded in 2010 by Catherine Neville, who had co-founded Sauce Magazine with Allyson Mace in 1999.
The news is tough to bear as St. Louis lost another incredibly important news outlet, the Riverfront Times, in 2024. To lose two of our beloved media outlets in such a short span of time is heartbreaking, to say the least.
If you care about St. Louis media, now is the time to show it. Come to our events, pick up Sauce on stands (we’re printing thousands of copies again each month), read our online stories, and engage with us on social media. And if you’re a business owner, connect with our sales team (sales@saucemagazine.com) – local media only survives with local support.
