Tom Coll, the founder and owner of Joe Fassi Sausage and Sandwich Factory at 2323 Sublette Ave. on the Hill, was seriously injured in a stabbing at his restaurant on Wednesday, May 28. The longtime small business owner is now facing a lengthy recovery following the violent incident.

In response, supporters have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover Coll’s medical expenses and support his business during his absence.

“He is the sole operator of his small business and relies on this to make a living,” the fundraiser states. “Tom has suffered severe injuries because of this senseless act of violence and has a long road to recovery. Please consider donating to help assist with his medical bills and to keep his business afloat.”

Joe Fassi Sausage and Sandwich Factory has also shared the fundraiser on its social media pages to raise awareness and encourage community support. As of press time, the fundraiser was nearing its $30,000 goal.
