Lia Holter, owner of Made. by Lia and our October issue cover star, has great taste. You can learn all about her journey and her brand-new cookbook in the issue, and don’t miss her appearance on The Sauce podcast. She’s an avid home cook, but when she’s not eating at home, here’s where she likes to eat around town.

Faraci Pizza
Everyone’s got their favorite takeout pizza in St. louis – ours is Faraci’s in Ferguson. It’s old-school Italian and brings me back to childhood. I rarely eat meat, but their sausage pizza is everything. Literally the best! Oh, and their T-ravs are the real deal and are a must in our house.”

Fiddlehead Fern Cafe
I don’t get here as much as I’d like to, but some of my favorite mornings have been breakfast and coffee at Fiddlehead and then a trip to the botanical gardens after. The perfect combo. Their loaded toasts are so fresh and not only delicious but beautifully presented too. Their almond croissant is amazing (if you get there in time to snag one!) and coffee is always on point. Oh, and I can’t leave without one of their fresh juice shots for the road.”

Hendel’s
“Hendel’s is a gem. My brother-in-law Nathan and my sister Christina own it, so I’m pretty biased, but the wait list, constant flow of people and wall of awards is proof that they’re doing it right and have been for 30 years. Amazing food, awesome cocktails, the best service and beautiful patio in the heart of Old Town Florissant. They’ve been the rock of our community for years and I’m lucky enough to call them family.”

Louie
“My husband Max and I’s favorite date-night spot. We love it here. I pretty much order the same thing everyt ime. Italian salad, castelvetrano olives, prosciutto di parma (with peaches) or burrata and then we split a main course. A cocktail to start and a glass of Italian wine with dinner. And even when I’m already too full, I can’t leave without the panna cotta; it’s the olive oil on top that gets me. Everything is always perfect from the food to the service and they make us feel at home. I’ve brought my kiddos along several times and they love it too! It’s a special spot.”

Winslow’s Table
Winslow’s is quaint and cozy. A great spot for brunch or an early dinner and an easy spot to take the kids when we still want a nice meal and a glass of wine. Their menu is elevated yet approachable and the breakfast burrito is next level, so dang good!”
