It’s cold out there, but plenty of St. Louis restaurants offer respite. Keep scrolling to see some of our favorite cozy (dimly lit) spots in town.

Located beneath The Cheshire hotel, this sleek basement pub features rustic wood accents and an Italian-leaning menu.

Planter’s House has some of the best cocktails in town. We like to pair them with a burger and their cacio e pepe fries. The dark wood accents throughout lend to its cozy feel.

This Japanese-American restaurant is one of our top choices for sushi. And if you want to get really up-close and personal with your fellow diners, Sado’s new concept Pavilion might be the coziest dining experience in town.

Our favorite restaurant in town, Louie has an Italian menu full of must-try items, including the Rosie y Rosa cocktail and the beef tenderloin. Go on a weekend so you can order the off-menu burrata and grilled sourdough – you can thank us later.

Nestled in the Central West End, Brennan’s has long been one of our favorite spots for cocktails and socializing, but the food menu is quite good as well.

This pop-up features a mountainside cabin vibe, plus a specialty food and drink menu. This rustic retreat is only open until March 2, so get it while the getting’s good.

Perhaps this list is leaning a bit too Italian, but we couldn’t leave Noto off. Don’t miss their incredible pizzas and cocktails. Before or after dinner, head around back to check out Bormio for appetizers and aperitivos.

We weren’t really quantifying how dimly lit the spots on this list are, but if we were, this spot at The Cheshire hotel might take the cake. We mainly go here for drinks before or after dinner, but they have some nice food options too.
