A new era is beginning at Atomic Pavilion, the outdoor concert space at Atomic by Jamo in the Grove, as it launches its first full season this week with a fresh layout and exciting summer concert lineup, plus a full new list of inventive cocktails. Following a brief, six-week debut season in 2024, the venue is stepping into the spotlight with a reimagined guest experience.
The most striking update is Atomic Pavilion’s new block party-style configuration. Repurposed shipping containers – transformed into rolling bars and merchandise booths – now form a movable fence line that expands the venue’s footprint onto Talmage Avenue. The upgraded design allows the space to host up to 2,000 guests and offers a more immersive experience for attendees. The colorful exteriors of the shipping containers feature murals by local artist 18andcounting (Stan Chisholm), a member of Screwed Arts Collective. Designed by V Three Studios Architecture and fabricated by BLA Studios, the containers sit adjacent to a full-wall mural by fellow collective member Killer Napkins (Jason Spencer), completed last year as part of the St. Louis Mural Project. Together, the container art and mural form a cohesive visual statement. While the outdoor space is the headline act, Atomic Lounge – the indoor bar and stage area – has also been updated with new seating, lighting and artwork.
According to Managing Partner Drew Jameson, the winter break was used to fine-tune the space and take Atomic’s creative direction even further. “Our first full outdoor season is here and we couldn’t be more thrilled,” Jameson said. “Jason’s building mural served as a great claim flag, but we’re just getting started. Atomic is a focal point for art and innovation and it’s about to show. Our new block party design is next level.”
At the bar, guests will find a new cocktail menu crafted by Tony Saputo and Ryan Huelsing, focusing on accessible drinks made with quality ingredients and refined techniques. A new shot menu debuts this week as well, and food trucks or pop-up stands will be featured during larger outdoor events. Check out the slideshow below for a look at the new cocktail offerings.
The season officially begins Thursday, April 10, with Neal Francis and his Return to Zero tour. Additional summer highlights include Leftover Salmon with Sicard Hollow on April 26, Railroad Earth, Daniel Donato, and Yonder Mountain String Band on July 17, STS9 on Aug. 15, and Andy Frasco & The U.N. on Aug. 29.
Atomic Pavilion’s outdoor season is the latest chapter in Jamo Presents’ long-running influence on the St. Louis live music scene, which has included venues such as the original Atomic Cowboy, The Lot, The Big Top, and Chesterfield Amphitheater. In addition to ticketed concerts, Atomic continues to host free live music every week in the Lounge from Thursday through Sunday. Happy hour sets run from 5:30 to 8 p.m., followed by late night shows from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. On pleasant days with no scheduled concerts, happy hour programming will spill out onto the patio for casual, no-cover shows. Concerts are being added regularly, with the latest calendar updates available at JamoPresents.com.
