It seems like chef Bob Brazell is making a lot of headlines these days. Last month, Brazell took to Instagram to share the news that he’d purchased Nick’s Pub and SOHA Bar & Grill. With that announcement, he declared that fans of his beloved, and sadly, long-shuttered, fried chicken concept Byrd & Barrel would once again get a taste of their favorite menu items each Sunday at Nick’s Pub.

Now, a month later, and as first reported by St. Louis Magazine, Brazell, who co-owns Tamm Avenue Bar, has entered the news cycle once again. Last week, Tamm Avenue Bar announced via an Instagram post that Byrd & Barrel is coming back full-time and will operate inside Tamm Avenue Bar, at 1227 Tamm Ave. in Dogtown. Due to the departure of Nomad, which had operated out of Tamm Avenue Bar for five years before announcing its closure earlier this month, the fried chicken concept will soon be operating out of that space.

“We’re excited to announce that we’ll be opening a full-service brick-and-mortar restaurant in the former Nomad space,” the post begins. “The support for our first Byrd & Barrel Sunday at Nick’s Pub was unbelievable, so we’ve decided to give you more of what you want,” Tamm Avenue Bar’s Instagram update further explained.

The exciting news comes as a pleasant surprise, since in a phone interview with Sauce last month Brazel shared, “Our next goal is to open another Byrd & Barrel brick-and-mortar location eventually.”

Although no one is complaining, that day seems to have gotten here sooner than anyone expected, and even though the Byrd & Barrel Sunday menu was a success, according to the Tamm Avenue Bar Instagram post, the plan is to discontinue Byrd Sundays at Nick’s Pub so that the team can put all their efforts towards opening the new location in the next couple of weeks.

Soon enough guests will be able to stop into Byrd & Barrel’s brick-and-mortar and order up their favorite menu items. In written communication with Sauce, Brazell confirmed that guests can expect to find “a mix of all the hits with our usually funky specials and seasonal rotations.”

That means the concept’s core fried chicken offerings like nugs, or the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, poutine, sides and those Byrd & Barrel tacos that are reminiscent of the type you might order at the drive-thru of a popular fast food chain, will all be available once again.

Stay tuned to Byrd & Barrel’s Instagram account to learn all the opening details.
