After 25 years as a popular destination in Ste. Genevieve, Chaumette Vineyards & Winery will end operations this summer. As of Aug. 15, ownership of the award-winning estate will transfer to Life Teen International, a Catholic youth ministry organization.
The change marks the end of an era for the winery, restaurant and event venue, which has drawn visitors to its scenic location in the rolling hills of southeastern Missouri for decades. While Chaumette will no longer operate as a public-facing business, its new owners aim to maintain the property’s spirit of hospitality.
“We are deeply grateful for the past 25 years. Thank you to our guests, our team, and supporters who have helped make Chaumette what it is today,” said founder Hank Johnson. “It has been our life’s work to build something beautiful here, a place where people gather to celebrate, connect and relax. We now pass the baton to Life Teen with full hearts and hope for what’s to come.”
Life Teen International plans to reimagine the estate as a center for faith-based summer camps, retreats and leadership programs.
In the meantime, guests are encouraged to enjoy Chaumette during its final season. A handful of events and wine discounts are still on the calendar, with details on last opportunities to dine, stay and sip available on the winery’s website and social media channels.
