American Falafel has opened at 6314 Delmar Blvd., the former space of Racanelli’s Pizza.
The chicken shawarma is served with a “secret garlic sauce.”
The baba ghanoush takes a smoked eggplant base and is topped with tomatoes and oil.
Tzatziki dip is made with fresh cucumbers and Greek yogurt.
The steak galaya features sirloin steak bites, mushrooms and onions.
The eggplant amman has sauteed eggplant, tahini, yogurt sauce and mixed nuts.
The fattoush salad has romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and onions, and is topped with pita chips and mixed with an oil-based dressing.
The dining room has space for 25 guests, though that number will be less during social distancing. American Falafel is open at 11 a.m. every day. It closes at 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
“Everything is made fresh to order,” Qadadeh said. “The kitchen is open, you can see everything. You can choose your toppings.”
Owner Moh Qadadeh.
