The Gaslight Lounge and Cha Cha on Shaw opened doors the first week of March at 4916 Shaw Ave. The building is divided with the carryout taco eatery on the left and the bar and recording studio on the right.
The Gaslight’s Casa Paloma, a take on the classic cocktail, uses San Pellegrino grapefruit soda, white grapefruit juice and Olmeca Altos tequila with salt-sugar rim.
The bright, juicy Beetnik sees house-made beet syrup mixed with Pinckney Bend gin, Cynar, hibiscus-based Hum liqueur and celery bitters.
Nine boozy house cocktails are available like the Smokey Joe, featuring Buffalo Trace bourbon, mezcal, habanero syrup and a slice of baked peach for a subtle spicy sip.

On the right side of the building, the laidback Gaslight Lounge offers 49 seats at the bar and tall tables with a view of the Gaslight Studio, where patrons can listen to artists record while they sip and sup.
Cha Cha on Shaw will see menu items exclusive to the brick-and-mortar location, like pupusas, house-made masa tortillas filled with gooey cheese and served with red cabbage slaw and salsa.
All Cha Cha on Shaw’s menu items, like a basket of seasoned fries with spicy ketchup, are available to carryout or take next door to enjoy with a drink at The Gaslight Lounge.
From left, food truck favorites like the curried sweet potato taco and the barbecue pork taco are available a la carte or as platters of two, three or four with a side.
Cha Cha Chow owner Kandace Davis and Cha Cha on Shaw owner Sam Burke inside the wee 650-square-foot brick-and-mortar station that also serves as the food truck’s commissary kitchen.
When artists record at The Gaslight Studio during the bar’s operating hours, the music will pipe through speakers in the bar for a different take on live music.
