Mr. Meyer’s Live & Vinyl Lounge, located at 16 N. Meramec Ave. in Clayton, is set to transform the nightlife scene this summer, bringing high-fidelity lounge experiences to the forefront of the city’s entertainment offerings.

HiFi lounges, also known as vinyl listening bars, where guests gather to enjoy classical records played on high-fidelity sound systems, are experiencing a global surge in popularity. What began as a niche trend in Tokyo has evolved into a mainstream nightlife phenomenon for Gen Z and beyond in cities like New York, London, and Los Angeles, and it is now making its way to the St. Louis region.

The space features a 3,000-square-foot underground lounge with 99 seats, designed for intimacy and a refined listening experience. Strategically placed speakers create controlled sound zones, ensuring every seat offers the best audio in the house. The moody, immersive atmosphere draws inspiration from St. Louis jazz and blues as well as Berlin’s experimental music scene, with curated art pieces adding to the complete experience.

Mr. Meyer’s, named in honor of Jack Meyer, a beloved figure in the local music community and a close friend of Brian McCormac, is the brainchild of McCormac, a 30-year veteran of the entertainment and brand industry. After spending time in Minneapolis working closely with the Prince estate and collaborating with venues like Old Rock House and St. Louis artists such as Mvstermind, McCormac recognized the power of deep collaboration and the importance of building creative systems that push new sounds and reimagine how both audiences and creators experience music.

“I wanted to bring a system like that to St. Louis,” McCormac said. “I’ve traveled to Kansas City to visit their jazz bars, and even to Europe, to see how other cities were doing it.”

Mr. Meyer’s House Band is a highlight of the experience, featuring 20 local musicians who perform nightly and collaborate with guest artists. What makes this experience dynamic is that each member takes a turn leading the band, shaping the music, spotlighting different instruments, and exploring new styles and improvisation. Every session is a chance for risk-taking and creative expression. Afterward, the HiFi lounge transforms into Late Night Vinyl, with rare records spun by some of St. Louis’ most respected DJs.

Building on the vibrant energy of the music, McCormac’s team brings deep roots in St. Louis hospitality to the lounge. He will partner with Nate Hereford of Chicken Scratch as executive chef and head of culinary and with Matt Longueville, owner and mixologist behind STL BarkeepThe Vandy, and Off Elm, who will lead the bar program and cocktail curation. Divided into Side A and Side B, the menu will feature specialty cocktails, non-alcoholic options, and elevated, shareable dishes. Designed to complement the space, the menu enhances and fits seamlessly into the overall experience.

“I am inspired by the collaboration between the three of us. Each of us brings our own specialized expertise, and we trust one another in this space as we highlight the incredible talent in St. Louis,” said McCormac.

Mr. Meyer’s Live & Vinyl Lounge is set to open in summer 2026 and will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Happy hour is from 4-6 p.m. with no cover. Ticketed seating for Mr. Meyer’s House Band is at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., and there is no cover for DJ sets at 10 p.m.
