The Mighty Pines have been performing for St. Louis audiences for over a decade, establishing themselves as one of the best bands in town with their captivating blend of roots, folk and soul music.
This weekend, you’ll have a chance to see not only this incredible homegrown band but some of their favorite local and regional bands as well at the third annual Pines Fest on Saturday, Aug. 24, at The Big Top at 3401 Washington Ave. in Midtown St. Louis. Held in collaboration with Jamo Presents (opening its first brick-and-mortar in the former Atomic Cowboy space in a few short weeks!), the event kicks off at 4 p.m. featuring eight bands on two stages. You can also look forward to artist-at-large Jimmy Griffin, of El Monstero and Celebration Day fame, sitting in with each of the bands, adding a very special element to each performance.
Local musicians performing include Funky Butt Brass Band, Steve Ewing Band, Moon Valley, Beth Bombara, Yard Eagle and The Mighty Pines, of course. They’ve also got Henhouse Prowlers from Chicago and Handmade Moments from New Orleans.
“Pines Fest really serves as a testament to what local love and visionary thinking can achieve,” said The Mighty Pines singer and guitarist Neil Salsich, who you may recognize Salsich from his time competing on NBC’s The Voice in 2023. “The success of the 2022 and 2023 festivals laid a strong foundation for this year’s festival that allowed us to bring even more fun and community to the city we are so proud to call home.”
In addition to a stacked musical lineup, Pines Fest will feature three local food trucks to make sure no one goes hungry: Wok-O Taco, Chicken Scratch and Pete’s Pops. In addition, STL Barkeep will provide craft cocktails while 4 Hands Brewing Co. will have plenty of beer for thirsty guests.
