Feel like a train trip? How ’bout a smidgen of sweet secrecy, too, coupled with an Italian buffet? Then the American Association of Railroaders has just the thing for you.
Next Saturday, April 17, the AAR – an educational and historical nonprofit headquartered in the Holly Hills neighborhood – will sponsor the Italiano Mystery Dinner Train Excursion. The interstate Amtrak adventure will leave the downtown St. Louis station (at 430 S. 15th St.) at 2:30 that afternoon and travel roughly 200 miles to an undisclosed location. There, participants will take a brief stroll to an unspecified Italian restaurant for all-you-can-eat salad, pasta and pizza; they will then return to St. Louis at 10:45 p.m.
The nonrefundable fare for the event (which includes parking) costs $75 for adults and $65 for children. For details, phone 314.752.3148 or visit the AAR’s Web site for the online ticket form.
Less Murder on the Orient Express than marinara on a Midwest expedition, this jaunt nonetheless sounds like great fun that perhaps even fussy Hercule Poirot might enjoy.
