Barbecue fans, get ready, because local barbecue empire Salt + Smoke just announced that it will be opening a location in Kirkwood at 110 S. Kirkwood Road in late summer in the former home of Bar Louie.

“I was thinking I should probably let you know we just signed a lease on a new location in downtown Kirkwood,” owner Tom Schmidt said in the video. “Looking forward to serving you some real tasty barbecue later this summer.”

With locations in South City, Ballpark Village, St. Charles, Ellisville and the Delmar Loop, and a South County location slated to open in March, this will be the seventh location for the burgeoning barbecue hotspot.

The menu will repeat the familiar formula the restaurant’s guests have come to know and love. “We like to think we built like a Tom Petty album for a menu where it’s all the hits,” Schmidt told Sauce in a phone interview. “I’ve been looking and trying to get a restaurant open in Kirkwood for over a decade now, so we’re just thrilled to actually pull it off, especially at this location in the heart of downtown Kirkwood. It was worth the wait.”
