St. Louis Union Station opened 130 years ago at 201 S. 18th St. as a train depot connecting major cities across the U.S. via numerous freight and passenger trains. The last train left the station in 1978, and it was converted to a mixed use complex in 1985. Today, it’s one of the major entertainment complexes in downtown St. Louis.
To celebrate its 130th anniversary, there will be a free block party on the plaza at St. Louis Union Station on Friday, Aug. 9, and Sat., Aug. 10, featuring live music all weekend and a yoga class.
On Friday, the Jeremiah Johnson Band will perform from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. On Saturday, look for a performance by St. Louis’ School of Rock students from 2 to 4 p.m. From 5 to 7 p.m., Solis Armada performs, then The Band Feel wraps things up with a show from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
The party concludes on Sunday, Aug. 11, with a Market Mile Run taking place from 7 to 11 a.m., followed by a post-race party at Union Station.

Coming from out of town? There’s a Hilton hotel on the massive property too. Finally, bring some quarters! You’d be remiss to not feed the fish in the huge pond – fun for kids and adults alike.
