A new weekly event at The District in Chesterfield aims to make Friday nights easier and more enjoyable for families looking to get out of the house this winter.
The entertainment and dining destination launched “Family Fridays” this month, introducing a rotating lineup of food specials, drink deals and activities designed to appeal to both kids and adults. The weekly initiative brings together restaurants, entertainment venues and retailers across the walkable development, allowing families to spend an evening in one place without choosing between adult-focused nightlife and kid-friendly outings.
The concept centers on convenience and shared experiences. While children can stay active with options like glow-in-the-dark pickleball at Paddle Up Pickleball Club or arcade games and bowling at Main Event, parents can take advantage of happy hour specials or enjoy craft beverages nearby.
Several tenants are offering exclusive Friday promotions as part of the series. Steve’s Hot Dogs is providing a free kids meal with the purchase of an adult meal, while Hi-Pointe Drive-In is offering complimentary shakes with the purchase of an entrée and kids meal. Narwhal’s Crafted is also participating with smoothie specials designed for families.
For those looking to stay active, SBR Bikes & Brews is offering a bike rental promotion along the adjacent greenway trail, which stretches roughly 11 miles behind The District. The Candle Fusion Studio is also hosting hands-on candle-making sessions, giving families a creative indoor activity.
The District brings together several local food and beverage brands, including Steve’s Hot Dogs and 4 Hands Brewing Co., alongside entertainment venues and retail concepts. Organizers say the goal of Family Fridays is to make the destination an easy option for families seeking a night out without extensive planning or coordination.
“We know families are ready to get out of the house this time of year,” said Danni Eickenhorst, co-owner of Steve’s Hot Dogs, in a statement. “This gives kids the chance to play and have fun while parents can relax and enjoy the evening, all in one place.”
Family Fridays are scheduled to take place weekly throughout the winter and beyond, with participating businesses offering ongoing promotions and activities. The program reflects The District’s broader effort to position itself as a year-round gathering place combining dining, entertainment and outdoor access in a single, family-friendly environment.
