Gelato Di Riso will soon close the doors at its Central West End location. Owner Susan Reis told Sauce that she is “restructuring the business and focusing only on our headquarters on The Hill.” Reis opened the location at 4663 Maryland Ave., in March 2008. In July, The Scoop reported that Reis would be closing Gelato Di Riso’s Warson Woods location.
Reis said that the company’s original gelateria at 5204 Wilson Ave., is “the center of our attention and the base for all our gelato, coffee and soup sales.” Soup, we asked? “We’ve always been open lunch hours but now we’re serving real lunch food,” Reis noted. Besides a full coffee bar, baked goods selection and the popular real-deal gelato (which is served in quite a few area restaurants), customers can now order a bowl of hot soup at this spot on The Hill. Just in time for cold weather season, Gelato di Riso has rolled out nine soups including lobster bisque, tomato basil raviolini, loaded baked potato, minestrone, and roasted vegetables with pasta.
Gelato Di Riso in the CWE will close after business Sunday, Nov. 21.
