When the Saint Louis Art Museum’s new East Building is unveiled in mid-2013, visitors hungry after walking through gallery after gallery to view pre-Columbian wood carvings and 19th and 20th century European and American paintings can fill up at the museum’s new restaurant or café. The 100-seat restaurant will feature floor-to-ceiling windows with a view overlooking Forest Park’s Art Hill; the café, located across from a new museum shop, will offer seating for 60.
Museum officials are currently in the process of searching for a restaurant operator. “At this stage, we are seeking a partner to help us create an environment where visitors to the Saint Louis Art Museum will experience innovative cuisine served in a setting like no other,” said Carl Hamm, deputy director of external affairs for the Saint Louis Art Museum. “We are looking for proposals from potential partners who could provide our guests with an outstanding Museum dining experience.” According to a press release, the museum is open to partnering with a local, regional or national restaurateur.
