Northwest Coffee Roasting Co. has been selected to produce artisan coffee for Straub’s Fine Grocers. The new offering, Straub’s by Northwest, will consist of single-origin and custom blends as well as certified organic and fair trade offerings. The hand-roasted coffee will be available at all four Straub’s locations starting Monday, Sept. 20.
“Straub’s made the decision to move to a specialized roaster rather than do it in-house,” explained Northwest Coffee’s director of business development David Gulick. “We are truly excited about the opportunity to partner with Straub’s. They are an institution in St. Louis with both a commitment [to] and reputation for high-quality products. The alignment of our brand with theirs is the utmost compliment.”
If you’d like a pre-release perk, free samples of the Straub’s by Northwest house blend will be available this Saturday at the Clayton Farmers’ Market in the parking lot of Straub’s and at Northwest Coffee on Maryland Avenue in Clayton. Free samples will also be available next Tuesday and Wednesday at Straub’s Webster Groves location, where the java smells are sure to be emanating from the bakery department. Need more? Head over to the Clayton Farmers’ Market on Saturday, Oct. 1, when the small-batch roaster will offer guided “around the world” tastings of specialty single-origin beans from Africa, Latin America and Indonesia. Keep an eye out for tasting events from Straub’s in the coming weeks as well.
